Frequently Asked Questions

What beauty therapy courses do you offer?

We offer the complete range of VTCT beauty therapy qualifications in Ladbroke Grove: Level 2 Diploma (foundation training for beginners), Level 3 Diploma (advanced training including massage and electrotherapy), Combined Level 2 & 3 Diploma (complete training in one programme), Level 2 & 3 Combined Facials and Facial Electrotherapy (specialist facial treatments course), and Level 3 Epilation (permanent hair removal). All courses run one day per week to fit around other commitments, with training in individual treatment rooms and small classes of maximum 6 students.

Do I need any qualifications to start beauty therapy training?

No - our Level 2 beauty therapy courses are designed for complete beginners with no previous experience or qualifications required. You just need to be at least 19 years old and have a genuine interest in beauty treatments. Good English language skills are essential for understanding safety protocols and communicating with clients. Many of our students are career changers, school leavers, or parents returning to work with no beauty background.

How long does beauty therapy training take?

Level 2 takes 18 weeks (one day per week), Level 3 takes 18 weeks, or you can do the combined Level 2 & 3 programme which takes 36 weeks total. The combined facials and electrotherapy course takes 8 weeks, whilst epilation is an intensive 1-Day course. All courses run one day per week (typically 10am-4pm), making it easy to work or manage family commitments whilst training.

What's the difference between Level 2 and Level 3 beauty therapy?

Level 2 covers foundation treatments (facials, waxing, nails, lash & brow treatments) and qualifies you to work as a beauty therapist in salons across London. Level 3 builds on this with advanced techniques (body massage, electrotherapy, epilation) and prepares you for senior therapist positions in high-end salons and spas. Most salons require at least Level 2, whilst luxury establishments often prefer Level 3 qualified therapists. The combined diploma covers both levels for complete qualification.

Will I get a job after completing my course?

Yes - VTCT qualifications are recognised and respected by salons, spas, and beauty businesses across London and throughout the UK. You'll meet insurance requirements for professional practice. Many graduates can find employment in established salons within weeks of qualifying, whilst others choose to work mobile or establish their own beauty businesses. Our tutors provide guidance on employment, and self-employment pathways.

What makes your beauty therapy training different from other London schools?

Three key differences: individual treatment rooms (you work in your own professional space, not sharing equipment with 12-20 other students), maximum 6 students per class (compared to large crowded classrooms at most schools), and tutors with over 45 years combined industry experience. You'll receive focused, personalised attention and develop genuine professional confidence working independently in your own treatment room from day one.

Can I work whilst training?

Absolutely - our one-day-per-week format is specifically designed for this. Many students work full-time in other jobs, have family responsibilities, or start building their beauty practice part-time as they progress through their course. Training days fit around employment and other commitments.

Do I need to provide models for practical training?

No - we provide models for your practical sessions, so you don't need to worry about arranging them. However, if you prefer to bring your own models (friends, family, existing clients), you're welcome to do so. You'll work on real clients in your individual treatment room throughout your training.

What's included in the course fees?

Everything you need to train and qualify: individual treatment room access, all professional products and equipment, models for practical sessions, comprehensive course materials, VTCT registration and certification fees, and ongoing tutor support. You'll only need to provide professional uniform (tunic, black trousers, closed-toe shoes).

How much can I earn as a beauty therapist in London?

Employed beauty therapists in London typically earn £20,000-£30,000+ annually. High-end salons pay more, especially for Level 3 qualified therapists. Self-employed therapists often earn more, with successful practitioners earning £30,000-£50,000+ depending on client base, pricing, and hours worked.

Can I progress to advanced aesthetic treatments?

Yes - after completing Level 3 Beauty Therapy, you can progress to our Level 4 aesthetic courses including chemical peels, microneedling, micropigmentation (semi-permanent makeup), and laser therapy. These command significantly higher prices (£150-£600+ per treatment) and open doors to aesthetic clinics and medical spas.

Will I get support after I finish my course?

Yes - even after qualifying, you can contact your tutors for advice on insurance, treatment techniques, or business questions. That's the PATA difference - you're part of our professional network for life.
