Course Description
The VTCT/ITEC Level 4 Award in Dermaplaning is a nationally recognized, Ofqual-regulated qualification designed for experienced practitioners looking to expand their skills in advanced skin care treatments. Dermaplaning is a highly effective, non-invasive exfoliation technique that removes dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) to reveal smoother, brighter, and healthier-looking skin.
● The minimum age for entry to this course is 19 years – no exceptions.
● The learner is required to have successfully completed a beauty-related level 3 qualification or medical qualifications, e.g. being a doctor or nurse.
● A good level of English is required to attend this course, you must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
This qualification has been designed to meet the current demands of the aesthetic beauty industry and aligns with national and international standards for advanced skin treatments.
Learners must successfully complete the following mandatory unit:
● Enhance Appearance using Dermaplaning Techniques
Throughout the course, you will develop comprehensive knowledge of:
● Professional consultation procedures
● Client assessment and treatment planning
● Relevant health, safety, and hygiene requirements
● Dermaplaning treatment techniques and safe blade handling
● Contra-indications and contra-actions
● Post-treatment care advice and home care recommendations
● 1 Day a Week
● 1 Week
● 10:00am – 4:00pm

● Uniform – You will need a tunic, black trousers, and black flat closed-toe shoes. This attire ensures a professional and hygienic appearance during your work.
● Materials – During your training with us, we provide all the materials you need to complete your practical assessments. This includes tools, equipment, and products necessary for hands-on learning and skill development.
Learners will be assessed through:
Theory assessments
Practical observation on live models
Demonstration of safe and effective treatment techniques
Upon successful completion, you will receive the VTCT/ITEC Level 4 Award in Dermaplaning, an Ofqual-regulated qualification highly regarded within the aesthetics and beauty industry.
The Level 4 Award in Dermaplaning enables practitioners to safely and professionally perform dermaplaning treatments in salons, medi-spas, aesthetic clinics, or as part of their own independent business. It also serves as a valuable stepping stone towards further advanced aesthetic qualifications, including:
● Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Aesthetic Treatments
● Level 4 Laser and IPL Treatments
● Level 4 Micropigmentation
