The VTCT Skills (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Skin Needling is an advanced aesthetic qualification designed for experienced practitioners who want to expand their clinical treatment portfolio with one of the most in-demand skin rejuvenation techniques.
This Ofqual-regulated qualification equips you with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in cosmetic skin needling, a minimally invasive treatment that improves a range of skin concerns including acne scarring, fine lines, pigmentation, and overall skin texture.
The award focuses on safe practice, clinical protocols, advanced consultation, and effective treatment delivery — enabling you to perform skin needling procedures professionally and confidently within aesthetic clinics, beauty salons, or your own business.
● The minimum age for entry to this course is 18 years – no exceptions.
● Learners must hold a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification or an equivalent qualification that includes Anatomy & Physiology.
● A good command of English is essential — learners must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
This qualification has been developed in line with industry and regulatory standards to ensure practitioners deliver safe, professional, and effective treatments.
Learners must successfully complete the following mandatory unit:
● Enhance Appearance Using Skin Needling Techniques
Throughout the course, you’ll gain essential knowledge and hands-on experience in:
● Client consultation and skin analysis
● Advanced skin needling techniques using microneedling pens and rollers
● Health, safety, and infection control in clinical practice
● Contra-indications, contra-actions, and treatment planning
● Pre-treatment and aftercare advice
● Managing client expectations and treatment outcomes
● Maintaining clinical records and treatment protocols
● 1 Day a Week
● 8 Weeks
● 10:00am – 4:00pm
● Maximum 4 Students
Our small, focused class sizes offer a supportive and personalised learning environment, ensuring each student receives ample hands-on practice and direct tutor supervision.

You will be assessed through:
● Practical observations on live models
● Written theory assessments
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the VTCT Skills (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Skin Needling, a nationally recognised, Ofqual-regulated qualification respected throughout the aesthetics industry.
This Level 4 Award qualifies you to professionally perform skin needling procedures within salons, medi-spas, aesthetic clinics, or your own private practice.
It also acts as a stepping stone towards further advanced aesthetic qualifications, including:
